THEATRE EMBASSY IS STILL BUILDING UP ABROAD

While Theatre Embassy in the Netherlands hopes to hold a reconstruction of the organization and new projects beginning in February, there are many foreign construction activities take place. The mission of Theatre Embassy continues strengthening the capacity of cultural organizations in developing countries. This is happening with success currently in Mozambique, India, Congo and Indonesia.

Ambassadors Sabine Tonnac, Egbert Wits, Job Rijneveld and Saskia Kersenboom are each independently working in the countries Congo, Indonesia, Mozambique and India to strengthen the capacity of the theater groups and artists there. Sabine Tonnac helps partner K-Mu after (and with) the winning of the Freedom to Create Prize is now on its own feet and tries to stand before the organizational and financial foundations. Job has the same mission for Tambo partner, which is making acts now for the first location theatre festival in July. There is also comes to the sharing and transfer of knowledge and experience in the field of cultural entrepreneurship and provides the base for the independent organization. Kersenboom in India tries with her own foundation and with the help of Theatre Embassy working up the first steps towards productions around traditional temple dance. And Egbert will be finishing with partner Tanah an organizational plan for the project Theatre & Education. The target of the project is to help artists with knowledge and training actively working towards socially relevant performances.

We are very grateful for the work our ambassdors have done so far and really looking forward to the results later this year. After February we hope rebuilding new projects and partnerships, including a continuation of collaborations with a number of countries in previous years, but this depends entirely on the outcome of the new grants end of this month.
